Why the health and social care sectors should be embracing new tech

“If technology can remove some of the labour-intensive tasks where the computer can do better than the human eye; that helps.” - Matt Hancock (Health Secretary)

The Academy of Medical Sciences recently published a report entitled, ‘Our Data Driven Future in Healthcare’, which provides a comprehensive overview of health-related technologies. The report strongly advocates for the NHS to embrace innovations and new tech which have the potential to “transform the way that health and social care is delivered”.

The Academy has also warned that a winter Covid-19 peak remains a strong possibility, but that “the risk of this happening could be reduced if we take action immediately.” Respiratory specialist Professor Stephen Holgate FMedSci, from University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust adds: “With relatively low numbers of COVID-19 cases at the moment, this is a critical window of opportunity to help us prepare for the worst that winter can throw at us.”

Recruiting Health and Social Care Staff

At Credentially, we fully understand the problems faced by our health and social care sectors in the face of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. One of the key priorities for health and social care organisations is the recruitment of trained and qualified staff - and preparation is everything. The window of opportunity is open now for essential services to prepare themselves for the demands of winter 20/21.

One of the most important measures that services can take is to ensure that they have robust recruitment processes in place. This will protect them from the widespread crippling staff shortages experienced during the first wave of the pandemic.

With the right infrastructure in place, we can help you to:

  • Recruit staff quickly
  • Streamline recruitment and on-boarding processes
  • Ensure that reliable and robust checks are in place
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with governing body the Care Quality Commission
  • Drastically cut recruitment costs by reducing reliance on agency staff.

Being prepared will save lives

Having the right systems in place will provide your team with the support they need to deliver a high quality service, whatever adverse circumstances they face. In the coming months, health and social care providers which are able to manage recruitment efficiently in order to maintain optimal staffing levels will, quite literally, save lives.
